When my friends Garrett and Sarah Mallon decided to open a shop I was so delighted, not only does Garrett make the most beautifully finished gold and silver jewellery, in the years of craft business development Sarah has filled her home with a fantastic collection of craft – I knew this shop would be great.
I asked Garrett a few questions
What do the customers say about Carlingford Design House
Our customers love that the shop is full of original work made in Ireland and that the makers are using really creative ways to express themselves. As a maker myself I know a lot of the designer makers personally and so our customers get the bonus of the real story of the person and how they work.
What your Customers say about me
I love telling them that you work in an 18th century grain store.They love the colour and design, they often see the subtle colours and simple design at first glance but are then blown away by the detail when looking up close. The clever use of words seems to resonate with the customers and they love the idea of commissioning something special for themselves.
What is your favourite Sarah McKenna Ceramics pieceI like the impressed range of bowls and platters for their attractiveness and practicality. Even though I am a jeweller we do seem to collect ceramics and have more than a few of
your pieces in our house and guests always ask about them!
And do you have a product in your store which you think goes well with one of mine
We could pair them with Tara Hammond’s Slated classic pieces as a contrast to the colour or going to the other extreme Green Gorgeous’s wonderfully colourful felt table settings.
