My workshop has been based in Bridge Street Studios for almost 19 years and it is very much still my happy place. I have been lucky to be surrounded by amazing artworks from most of my working days and I am even luckier to have the artists and craftspeople at my side. Let me introduce to you the artists and artworks that you will find in our Gallery if you call by, we are open every Saturday from 12.30 pm – 5.30 pm.
Home Comforts Tealight Holders by Sarah McKenna €15
Cushla of Gullion – aka Caoilfionn Murphy O’Hanlon is a true multidisciplinary and she is master of all. Her millinery and jewellery pieces are made from a wide range of materials her favourites being silk, beads, and handmade merino felt. Caoilfionn specialises in bespoke design, creating something special to complete your ensemble or as a statement piece on its own. Caoilfionn also creates wonderful textile wall art using luxurious materials to create landscapes inspired by the South Armagh hills.

Orla Barry‘s magical paintings are inspired by nature, sacred art, mysticism and surrealism, Using acrylics on canvas and wood her painting often feature animals in a fairytale-like scene using patterns and symmetry to find the perfect colour combinations. In our studio Gallery, you will find original paintings, Giclée art prints, a collection of brooches, necklaces and greeting cards.

Fiona Quigley‘s work usually starts with a painting, then she removes her canvas from the frame and takes it to the sewing machine where layers of fabric, paper, beads and stitch are added to the piece. Buildings and homes are repeatedly used as the imagery in Fiona’s pieces, sometimes she gives the buildings character traits such as a terrace of houses being like a family – with a Mum and Dad and Children. In the gallery, you will find a range of wall art by Fiona and smaller pieces such as brooches and cards and of course her ever-popular fairies.

Rachel Tinniswood uses line drawing to translate her inspiration of nature, seasons and the landscape in which she lives into textile art pieces. Using needle felt and stitch she creates stunning images painted onto canvas and machine embroidered. In the gallery, she has framed wall art, cards, brooches and necklaces.

Mary Cowan is a ceramic artist who makes hand-built sculptural forms which take inspiration from both organic and industrial forms. Her work is inspired by found objects: organic, natural objects (eg. shell, pod, teeth and bone) and man-made industrial objects (eg. tools, inner workings of machinery). Of particular interest to her is in how time and the elements change and make their mark on such objects – eroding, rotting and sometimes eventually disintegrating them. Mary mostly works in clay which she makes through various hand-building techniques however she has also incorporated metal, plaster and latex.

Orlaith Cullinane’s work is rooted in drawing. On widely varying scales, it has always been a constant, wherever it ends up leading. Her practice is generally figurative, incorporating printmaking, drawing and painting, and largely focuses on living beings and landscape. Her current interests lie in the corporeal – using the figure in creating stories of everyday transfiguration and transition by capturing and evoking movement, gesture, expression and chance symbolism through studies from life. Orlaith has recently worked on a series of portraits and is available for commissions.
