The Story Behind the Small Compass Tiles

I have some beautiful new things to show you!

I am delighted to introduce the Small Compass Tiles – these new tiles have a stylised map with a red x to mark the spot and using gold lustre to highlight the hand-drawn features. Available in two styles – up north & down south. Unlike many of my other tiles -this tile has no text leaving the imagery open for your own interpretation.

I love all the detail in maps and hidden treasure and yet the maps also allow for anonymity; no one can really tell what is happening in those places behind the walls. I am fascinated by the alchemy of people and place and how certain combinations will create hidden gold.

Sarah McKenna

Sarah McKenna has been developing her unique handmade Irish pottery at Bridge Street Studios since 1999. Before returning to Dundalk she studied Ceramics at Duncan of Jordonstone College of Art & Design, the University of Dundee, Scotland where she gained a Bachelor of Ceramic Design.

Sarah’s work has always been engaged in the process and the early studio work was concerned with smoke firing and raku firing sculptural vessel forms. In 2006 Sarah started producing a range of quirky customisable ceramics giftware which is the beginning of what you can purchase today. Read more here.
